Dedicated At State Capitol Ceremony

OKLAHOMA CITY - Another original painting depicting a key scene in Oklahoma history has been dedicated at the State Capitol. State Senator Charles Ford, President of the Oklahoma State Senate Historical Preservation Fund said the painting was endowed by native Oklahoman and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral William J. Crowe, Jr.

"This remarkable painting will be hung in one of the main conference rooms of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, and depicts the attack of the Battleship Oklahoma at Pearl Harbor. It seems most appropriate that Admiral Crowe has made this painting possible, and that it was done by award winning Oklahoma artist R.T. Foster, who is himself a veteran," said Ford.

Foster is the winner of Oklahoma's 1987 and 1991 waterfowl stamp, and has several of his paintings on display in museums throughout the nation.

This is his second work commissioned by the Oklahoma State Senate Historical Preservation Fund, Inc. Foster's painting of Col. Robert Johnson, America's first World War II ace, was dedicated and hung in a major conference room of the Oklahoma State Senate a year ago.
